Canadians believed that the Quebec Mosque shooting would have been the last Islamophobic incident in Canada. However, hate crimes against Muslims continue across the country, such as the killing of four Muslims in London, Ontario. After the Quebec mosque shooting, Liberal MP Iqra Khalid tabled a motion aiming to combat Islamophobia and racism: M – 103. The motion was met with backlash therefore did not pass. A committee report on Islamophobia was established in 2018, however, there were no concrete recommendations. Canadians need to take a stand against all forms of Islamophobia and acknowledge racism and Islamophobia are present in Canada.

The Teaching Against Islamophobia resources were developed with funding support from the Law Foundation of BC, and the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies at SFU.
