The rise in anti- Muslim hate crimes in Canada led the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) to put forth 60 policy recommendations to combat Islamophobia. The NCCM recommendations address all levels of government, highlighting varying commitments each government can adhere to. Examples of policy recommendations include, but not limited to: funding for Muslim storytelling; new provision in the criminal code around hate crimes; anti-Islamophobia strategy by end of 2021; and a review of the school curriculum and resources for Muslim students.
