Monia Mazigh recounts a racist incident on a bus when a man yells at her. Mazigh highlights that after 9/11 she feels insecure in public as people dehumanize her due to her hijab. She argues that government policies play a role in fostering an Islamophobic environment.  Despite not knowing the exact reason for the man on the bus treating her poorly, she says she has a strong feeling it is because of her hijab. To address misogyny and the hijab wearing intersections, Mazigh coined the term “misogynijab”. She concludes challenging the notion that the hijab oppresses women.
