The recommendation to continue to enforce the Arbitration Act in Ontario and the announcement to arbitrate matter on the basis of sharia law was met with resistance from right-wing media and activists. Comments critiquing the Arbitration Act and sharia law were informed by inaccurate and lack of information. Moreover, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the definition of sharia law and what it entails. Lastly, the Arbitration Act is enforced by other minority groups such as Jews; therefore, Muslims should also have the same liberties as other groups.
