Paul Kivel outlines the relationship between the body and Christianity. Kivel notes how Christianity depicts certain bodies as good and some bodies as bad. The standard body is that of white, Christian, able- bodied man. All other bodies were considered impure, immoral, and disconnected with God. As a result, they are excluded from society. Kivel concludes by noting how western science, incarnational theology and historical events have contributed to the construction of the Other body.
