Raymond Taras outlines the evolution and history of the term “Islamophobia”. Tara notes that the clash of civilizations discourse contributed to the rise of Islamophobia in Europe. In addition, Tara further notes that other anti-Muslim framings also contribute to Islamophobia. This study also highlights the racialized dimension of Islamophobia and how racism and xenophobia have contributed to Islamophobia in the West.
