New Muslim Cool showcases the life of Hamza Perez, a Puerto Rican American who became Muslim. This film highlights the challenges he faced before he became a Muslim and what led him, and his brother, to Islam. Upon accepting Islam, Hamza and his brother aim to spread the message to other at-risk communities by talking to individuals and by creating hip-hop music as a form of outreach. The pair also assist in creating a vibrant Muslim community by building a mosque and community centre. However, Hamza faces barriers as a Muslim as the community mosque he helped establish is raided by the FBI.
