TedX speaker, Amal Kassir, shares her story and the importance of asking people: “What’s your name?” A person’s name carries their story and experiences – it is a reflection of who they are. Failing to ask someone their name leads us to assigning names to individuals and painting them with a broad brush. To avoid assigning names and perceptions about others, we ask them their name to allow them to reclaim their narrative. Warning: Racial slurs used.
