This article suggests ten ways to empower Muslim women in the community. The suggestions include: recognizing and validating traditional women’s roles, addressing domestic violence and family abuse, acknowledging and recognizing women volunteers, teaching women’s studies in Islamic settings such as mosques, set up scholarships, incorporating stories of Muslim women in Friday Khutbahs (sermons), making sure women are represented in leadership positions, dropping double standards, starting a Muslim women’s debate club, and giving them the info they need to seek knowledge.

The Teaching Against Islamophobia resources were developed with funding support from the Law Foundation of BC, and the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies at SFU.
