In London, Ontario, a motorist killed 4 members of a Muslim family due to their Islamic faith. The rise of anti-Muslim hate crime in Canada, specifically the case of the Afzaal family,  prompted individuals to call on the government to take action against Islamophobia. Community members and politicians vowed to combat anti-Muslim rhetoric at the vigil. Trudeau’s government promised to introduce legislation targeting online anti-Muslim hate crime.
