Dare to Care is a joint project between CELS and Life is Short Entertainment (Directors Mike Hawley and Darcy Van Poelgeest), and is based on research supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. In this documentary, academics and practitioners investigate the theory and practice of the ethic of care, a relationship-based approach to teaching and learning. Dare to Care challenges our basic perceptions of educational relationships, and describes the role ethical caring can play in our schools and in the wider community.

Blending uniquely styled interviews with classroom footage and black and white archival imagery, this conversational documentary invites the viewer into a new dialogue regarding the age-old question: “What is education?”
