Drawing on reports from the University of Sherbrooke and the Canadian Criminal Law Review, this article indicates there have been 12 honour crimes in Canada and the perpetrators were immigrants. Specifically, the article refers to the Shafia case, a honour crime case in Ontario that reignited the discourse regarding the rise of honour crimes in Canada. The case later led to a debate about creating a Criminal Code category for honour killings. A list of victims and perpetrators of honour crimes in Canada are also included.
