Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think highlights the results of a polling survey conducted by Gallup in 2001. As Muslim voices are often missing in debates pertaining to Muslims and Islam, the Gallup poll surveyed Muslims around the world and asked them their opinions about varying issues such as gender equality, religion, democracy, policy and terrorism. The documentary also mentions how Americans perceive Muslims and how factors such as the media influence the American perception of the Muslim Other. Lastly, the film emphasized the importance of being well informed and listening to Muslim themselves, rather than relying on actors such as politicians.
