“Jihad”: Idea and history. (2007, April 30). OpenDemocracy. https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/jihad_4579jsp/

The article focuses on 4 main questions about jihad. First,  what is jihad, apart from holy war in a broad sense? Second, is it true that Islam was spread by force? Third, did the pre-modern Muslims ever feel that there was anything wrong about religious warfare? And fourth, what is the relevance of all this to the world today?

The Teaching Against Islamophobia resources were developed with funding support from the Law Foundation of BC, and the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies at SFU.
