Hogben, A. (2019, October 16). Make the term ‘honour based violence’ irrelevant. Legal Aid Ontario.

According to Alia Hogben, the term ‘honour based violence’ incites racism and alienates women who experienced honour based crimes from other forms of violence against women. The article defines violence against women, outlines violence against immigrant and Indigenous women, recent cases of honour based violence, “honour crimes” in certain cultures, and femicides. Hogben concludes by stating that all Canadians deserve equal rights and to not let racism divide us.
