Stemming from discussions about religious accommodation in Canada, some politicians have called for the banning of niqab during citizenship ceremonies. This is however not the first time the niqab has been banned in Canada. Bill 94 in Quebec requires women to remove their niqab when dealing with the government. Another example is the case of N.S. which entails the consideration to prohibit women from wearing the niqab when testifying in court. The article notes the consequences the bans have on women.
