This roundtable discussion features three active LGBTQ Palestinan members who are involved in LGBTQ movements in Israel and occupied Palestine. Gil Hochberg, the host of the discussion, discusses with the participants about the need for LGBTQ independent organizations, the challenges Palestinian LGBTQ face, the internal difficulties of LGBTQ Palestinians and Israeli occupation, and the potential collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian queer activists. Hochberg also asks the participants about their identity construction in relation to Western notions of identity formation such as using Western/English terms such as “gay”, indicating whether it is important to generate Arabic terms to identify themselves.

The Teaching Against Islamophobia resources were developed with funding support from the Law Foundation of BC, and the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies at SFU.
