Catherine Besteman in her work discusses the Trump executive order which bans individuals from seven Muslim majority states. Besteman argues that the rationale behind the Ban, which is national security, makes no sense. Rather, the Ban fulfills and serves Trump supporters. The article highlights previous US immigration acts which barred immigrants from entering the country, noting that exclusionary acts such as the Muslim Ban are not a recent phenomenon. Although the American government removed all barriers at a certain point, immigration is once again controlled by white-supremacists.
