In his work, Paul Kivel unravels the Christian binary of good and evil. Non-Christians, the Other, are depicted as being enemies of God therefore are evil. Kivel notes how politicians have used the fear of evil, the Other, as a way to promote war. In order to save and cleanse the world, violence is justified. This fear ensures continuous war and further perpetuates the us versus them dichotomy.
