Humanitarian law can introduce students to ethical and political issues in the context of real life situations and issues. IHL can be incorporated into a wide range of different subject areas that fall under the broad heading of citizenship education. Its teaching methods reinforce many important academic and life skills, such as communication, team-work, disagreeing respectfully, reasoning, research, problem-solving and critical thinking.

The Teaching Against Islamophobia resources were developed with funding support from the Law Foundation of BC, and the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies at SFU.
